“ New Review: North Garden 42 Myron Street West Springfield Ma. I am basing my review on the generals Chicken that I got there today. And what I visually saw on others plates. The presentation of the plates looked nice. The portions were fair. History: my husband grew up in this area and this place was his favorite place for generals chicken. I have been here with him a handful + of times with him in the last 13 years. I have yet to order anything other than the generals chicken here so I know not much about other dishes. What I ordered today was the dinner combo #14 which was generals chicken with fried rice and 3 crab Rangoon. The rice: no vegetables. That kind of bummed me out. There was only egg and rice. But however the rice was moist and cooked perfectly. I just missed onions and bean sprouts and the pork I'm used to. The Generals Chicken, it was the best I think I have have ever had. This was real unprocessed chicken! Good quality! I liked the thick sauce and the chicken had a crispy outer shell. Cooked to perfection. Nice hefty chunks of meat too! the crab rangoons. The texture was good but unfortunately there was no flavor. i ordered a wonton soup and an egg roll extra. I can't have a meal without an egg roll rofl. The eggroll was decent. Cabbage and what was expected. There was that hint of I think it was clove in it which I'm my opinion I did enjoy in there. It was not super exciting but it was decent. The wonton soup.... It was void of vegetables. The broth tasted good. The pork was fatty and few . But the wontons were what I hoped them to be. But still, could have been better. But I am picky. My 11 YO son, he ordered beef and broccoli from the lunch menu. He liked his meal and finished it tonight. Visually it looked nice. The beef appeared to be tender and the broccoli was blanched and looked nice. My 8 year old son got sweet and sour chicken. The chicken fingers looked decent. The presentation of his plate looked good as well. He enjoyed his spring roll too. I cannot say much on what they said said though. THE tea... I'm not sure it was probably the traditional black tea. But for some reason both my husband and I killed it today. It was really good. The owner is an elderly man. He has always been nice to us. No other servers have been present in any of our visits. The owner has always served us our food and ran the whole kit and kaboodle. My husband has a soft spot for this place. I do agree the Generals chicken is definitely good. But there is room for improvements on other things. But for as often as we go, it would not stop me from coming back so that my husband can have his general chicken fix. This place for us is about an hour away from home but we had to come out this way on business so we planned to stop here too. This is my honest review. Hopefully it benefits someone who may be in the area. ”
